  • The relationships that converge within life are determined by varying degrees and kinds of familiarity and intimacy; often they are ephemeral or ambiguous. Yet sometimes people and their practices resonate deeply.

     

    The new video work by McIntyre Parker is carried by a very personal system of references - of encounters, of music and objects, of landscapes, and of memories. It also carries its viewers through multiple layers of perception, evoking individual worlds of reference.

  • McIntyre Parker (b. 1984) lives in Inverness, California. Recent solo exhibitions include Kunstverein München, Germany (2021); Yale Union, Portland, Oregon (2018); and “Gracia,” Odium Fati, San Francisco (2017). Additional presentations include “Gallery Share,” Kristina Kite Gallery, Los Angeles (2018); and “Coffee News #02,” Artspeak, Vancouver, Canada (2016). He co-organized the group exhibition “Cascadence,” with K.R.M. Mooney (2021); and organized “O the sleeping bag contains the body but not the dreaming head,” (2013), both at Altman Siegel. In 2009 he founded Pied-à-terre, an occasional off-space.
